Black Eyes All of the Time - Intimate Violence, Aboriginal Women, and the Justice System is a recent book about First Nations and family violence that is based on a 1995 Winnipeg study involving 26 Aboriginal women. These women express their harrowing accounts with simple honesty, and the authors have used these women's voices to tell the story of the cycle of violence. The authors analyse how the cycle of violence evolved and suggest possible solutions involving both the dominant Canadian justice system and Aboriginal traditions. Anyone involved in delivering social services to First Nations should read this compelling study.
